On Monday Evening (21st October 2019) we held our October General Meeting where Alex Clark Durham County FA RDO was our guest speaker, conducting a presentation about ‘Assaults and Correct Procedures’. Following this Shaun Hudson (SG2 Assistant Referee) conducted a presentation on DOGSO where we had a variety of clips and everyone had their opinion. Safe to say these had plenty talking points.
Following this part of the meeting we joined Northumbria Police and University of Sunderland Football teams and families upstairs where we joined their Charity Football Night. Northumbria Police XI played against University of Sunderland staff in memory of the late Detective Constable Cameron Scarratt, 44, who died after a short battle with cancer. Both sides were competing for The Cameron Scarratt Trophy.
This night brought back many memories for all who were involved with Cameron and were delighted that Sunderland Referees Association members were able to officiate this prestigious fixture. This night was about supporting charities that were close to the families and friends that were effected but also to show support to Mental Health Charities and that of the Charity “Mind” which are a partner of The Referees’ Association.
